This is free and for residents only. Sign-ups are required. Having a correctly installed child safety seat is crucial to prevent children from getting injured or killed in a car crash. Statistics show more than 70% of child safety seats are installed incorrectly.

The Queen Creek firefighters who signed up for a training exercise experienced hands-on training from Hospice of the Valley. They learned firsthand how dementia can profoundly impact language and comprehension and make it difficult for people to interpret what is happening around them.

"This is the last step in the recruitment process before we select our newest firefighters, who will then go on to the regional Recruit Academy," explained a QCFMD spokesperson.

"The idea was to experience a glimpse of what our first responders can encounter in a day," said Councilmember Dawn Oliphant.

Phillip Mazur, Christian Williams and Matthew Kray join the rest of the department's traffic unit in helping keep Queen Creek roads safe.

Officer Rachel de la Torre had a great time helping kids at Auxier Elementary School pick out a good book to read.

No injuries were reported and QCPD officials said the suspect "turned himself in to officers at the police department, after he was contacted by detectives."

UPDATE: Daniel Avilez has been located this afternoon in the San Diego area, according to the Queen Creek Police Department. He is safe and waiting to be reunited with his family.

QCPD is excited to welcome new officers Erica Vazquez and Zachary Akers to town.

QCPD is requesting assistance in obtaining any surveillance camera video from home or doorbell cameras from residents who may have captured the suspects within a half-mile radius of the area, between the hours of 10 p.m. to 1:30 a.m.
