Fire Operations 101: Queen Creek Town Council become firefighters for a day

"The idea was to experience a glimpse of what our first responders can encounter in a day," said Councilmember Dawn Oliphant.

Members of the Queen Creek Town Council became firefighters for a day recently when they participated in a Fire Operations 101 event hosted by the Queen Creek Firefighters Association IAFF Local 2260.

"The idea was to experience a glimpse of what our first responders can encounter in a day," said Councilmember Dawn Oliphant.

Vice Mayor Jeff Brown said he enjoyed learning about the environment and life of a firefighter for the day.

"They allowed us up close and personal for four different scenarios... vehicle fire, search and rescue, cardiac arrest management and vehicle extrication," Brown said. "It was a physically and mentally exhausting experience at times working in tight spaces with limited mobility. That said, it's an experience we'll always remember..."
