Young resident Cole Silva was recognized for his quick thinking and heroic actions in saving the life of his 3-year-old sister after he witnessed her fall into the backyard swimming pool in August. 

QCPD continues to work on balancing the need for prompt results while ensuring a thorough investigation. With the amount of data that is being processed and analyzed, QCPD continues to utilize other local law enforcement agencies, including the Phoenix Field Office of the FBI. In addition to the analysis support, QCPD has partnered with the FBI to provide another tip line and a $10,000 reward for information that leads to the arrest and/or conviction of those involved.

UPDATE: "QCPD is continuing their homicide investigation of the incident that took place on Oct. 28 near 194th St. and Via Del Rancho. QCPD has executed several search warrants related to investigative leads and continues to work towards an arrest. We understand that the community wants quick resolution - as a police department, we are committed to a thorough investigation to hold the appropriate people accountable and bring justice to the family," QCPD said on Nov. 8.

The Queen Creek Police Department spoke to media yesterday about its continuing investigation of the Oct. 28 assault that resulted in the Oct. 30 death of Combs High School junior Preston Lord, 16, after a Halloween party that got out of control near 194th Street and East Via Del Rancho Road. The J.O. Combs Unified School District's crisis response team remains on-call and available to offer counseling and resources to students or staff members who seek support.

Preston Lord, 16, was assaulted Saturday in the area of Ocotillo Road and Chandler Heights Boulevard and Sossaman and Hawes roads between 6 and 10 p.m. at a Halloween party. The Queen Creek Police Department is seeking more information and security camera footage from the public. The Combs High School junior died Monday of his injuries and his aunt has set up a GoFundMe account to help the family with medical, funeral and memorial expenses.

All these challenges showcased K9 training and demonstrated how police dogs are used as a tool by officers for the safety of the community.

"We would like to remind drivers to slow down, pay attention to your surroundings and Drive to Arrive. Most accidents we see are avoidable," Queen Creek Police Chief Randy Brice said. "Our goal is to make drivers safe, whether they're residents or just driving through town. That's why our Drive to Arrive campaign has been our focus to begin with."

“We really like to categorize the event as a celebration of public safety. There is no other event like this that allows the public to get so up close and personal and interact so much with our local police officers. We really hope this event allows the public to answer all the questions and get to know us in a fun setting,” said Tony Sanborn, president of the Arizona Law Enforcement Canine Association.

Last Saturday, the fearless firefighters rescued a stranded feline friend from a storm drain. It's not just fires they battle; they're there for every emergency in the community.
