QCFMD: Free child seat safety inspections June 9 for Queen Creek residents

QCFMD’s Child Passenger Safety Seat Program teaches parents and caregivers how to properly install child safety seats into their vehicle. Statistics show more than 70% of child safety seats are installed incorrectly.

Later this week the Queen Creek Fire and Medical Department (QCFMD) will be hosting a free child safety seat installation and inspection event for Queen Creek residents.

This event requires registration to participate and will take place from 8 to 11 a.m. on Friday, June 9 at Fire Station 2, located at 24787 S. Sossaman Road. Register for a time slot HERE.

Participating Queen Creek residents will need to bring their own car seats and included instructions. The QCFMD has a limited quantity of child safety seats available to residents only needing help obtaining one. To make the request, call the Fire Administration Office at 480-644-2400.

QCFMD’s Child Passenger Safety Seat Program teaches local parents and caregivers how to properly install child safety seats into their vehicle. The event is for residents only and includes car seats being inspected by appointment.

To avoid not being able to get your car seat installed by a certified technician, do not arrive unannounced at a fire station to have a car seat installed. Not all firefighters are trained to install a car seat. To make an appointment with a certified technician for another time, call 480-358-3360.

In addition, bring your vehicle owner’s manual and the manual for your car seat to your scheduled appointment during the event.

QCFMD officials say having a correctly installed child safety seat is crucial to preventing children from getting injured or killed in a car crash. Statistics show more than 70% of child safety seats are installed incorrectly.
