UPDATE: Missing Queen Creek senior Daniel Avilez found in San Diego

UPDATE: Daniel Avilez has been located this afternoon in the San Diego area, according to the Queen Creek Police Department. He is safe and waiting to be reunited with his family.

The Queen Creek Police Department (QCPD) is currently searching for 80-year-old Daniel Avilez, who went missing yesterday. 

Avilez has dementia. He is 5 feet, 9 inches tall, 200 pounds with gray hair. He was last seen wearing an olive green short-sleeved shirt and jeans.

Avilez originally disappeared from the area of South Ellsworth Road and East Barnes Parkway in Queen Creek on Feb. 28, around 4:35 p.m., driving a red 2014 Jeep Cherokee bearing Arizona plate BKK8173.

Sonu Wasu, public information officer with QCPD, said his car was last detected in the City of Maricopa.
