"It is important for kids to understand who is there to help them, and what to do in case of an emergency. Opportunities like these help police make a lasting impression on our youth," according the town's public safety spokesperson.

“Thanks to efforts of our entire HR division, under the leadership of Michele Brown, and our QCPD command staff for the outstanding job staffing our new police department with professional and compassionate individuals,” said Queen Creek Vice Mayor Jeff Brown. “This award, along with the award from Vitalant, continues to highlight the dedication to service that is embraced by this community.”

Rodriguez worked for the Phoenix Police Department when his squad was commended for their heroic actions in saving the life of a baby being held at gunpoint in January 2021. 

“We are extremely grateful to Starbucks for allowing us to host this event and excited to partner with the Pinal County Attorney’s Office for our next event. With Queen Creek located in both Maricopa and Pinal counties, we work with both offices on a regular basis. Events like these help us meet the residents we serve and interact with them in a casual environment, which helps us build trust and relationships,” said QCPD Police Chief Randy Brice. 

"The Queen Creek Police Department stands in solidarity with police officers throughout the country as we honor the lives of those who have gone before us," said the town's public safety spokesperson.

Money raised through the 250-mile ride is donated to various charities that support law enforcement officers and their families.

"Drowning deaths are 100% preventable, we all just have to do our part to ensure this tragedy does not touch our families," said Queen Creek Fire Chief Vance Gray.

If you would like to help, you can drop off cases of water at Fire Station 1, located in Queen Creek at 20678 Civic Parkway. 

Wright "worked hard to pass this rigorous exam and we are proud to have her part of the QCPD team," Queen Creek Police Chief Randy Brice said when presenting her with the award Wednesday night, adding that "this is my favorite part of my job."

"What an awesome way for QCUSD students to give back to the community to show their appreciation for our first responders," school officials said.
