The new Lindsay Road interchange will provide direct freeway access to the Gilbert’s central business district and new surrounding residential and commercial development. It also will improve traffic flow by widening Lindsay Road and reducing traffic congestion at the existing interchanges at Gilbert Road and Val Vista Drive. The completed project will also accommodate future general purpose lane widening of the Santan Freeway. 

At the height of the storm, at around 9:30 p.m. on July 17, there were more than 39,400 customers without power as well as 106 distribution poles and 15 69-kilovolt powerlines downed. 

The road is closed between Shea Boulevard and McDowell Road within the Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community.
