"Seven northern Arizona blood drives have been cancelled in this past week due to winter storms resulting in over an estimated 300 lost blood donations," said Sharon Ryan, senior donor recruitment account manager at Vitalant. "Valley blood donors are invited to help offset these lost donations for the sake of our own community blood supply."

Adopt your new best friend at this event in partnership with Pinal County Animal Care and Control. It is open to the public and friendly, leashed pets.

While the event features Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association performances, Friends of Horseshoe Park stresses that it's "more than a rodeo."

The students faced a few setbacks during the problem-solving process, including rearranging, disassembling and reassembling sections, all while trying to meet their deadline. The Ferris wheel is currently on display in the school's lobby.

The free-to-access event offers entertainment, egg hunts, animal races, discovery zone, play zone and more. Wristbands are required for the play zone and can be purchased in advance up to Monday, March 13 at 8 a.m. online or at the Recreation Annex for $12.50. Wristbands will be $15 at the event.

“Many students don't realize that they qualify for these scholarships,” said Quincy Nelson, foundation secretary of QCSEF. “They should always apply. We have several scholarships to offer, and we are able to help many students whether they are going to a four-year university, a community college or a trade school.”
