The Happiness Breakthrough: Queen Creek businessman lends advice on being a better person

“The Happiness Breakthrough is about grabbing a hold of the very best of who you are so you can serve and help other people,” said Queen Creek businessman Mark Leonard. "If we could teach the world to change how they view everything, in a positive mindset about how they will approach difficulties, it will change everything.”

It all started with a question: Why are some people so successful?

That was the question that drove Queen Creek businessman Mark Leonard in his doctorate research at Pepperdine University. He wanted to find out why some people excelled more than others when given the same resources.

What he found is that peoples’ mindsets and perspectives on life can be a key to success. He teaches his findings with The Happiness Breakthrough. The Happiness Breakthrough is Leonard’s trademark brand where he offers keynote speeches, one-on-one coaching and is in the midst of creating coursework and writing a book about how to become the best person that you can be.

“It’s a trademarked symbol, The Happiness Breakthrough, but it is also a process by which we could break through our limiting beliefs and achieve more,” Leonard said.

He broke down his philosophy by reimagining the famous formula for the theory of relativity: e=mc^2. He explained that people achieve excellence through mindset, care and connection.

Mindset changes how a person views the world, he said.

“If we could teach the world to change how they view everything, in a positive mindset about how they will approach difficulties, it will change everything,” Leonard explained.

Care is about caring for yourself, your health, loved ones and relationships. It also incorporates how you show care for the community.

The final aspect in The Happiness Breakthrough’s core philosophy is connection: How are you connecting with others, yourself and your goals for who you want to be?

One of the ways Leonard applies this theory in his own life is through his other main business that he owns with his wife, Becky, Jeremiah's Italian Ice in Queen Creek.

“I now look at a 16 year old employee as someone who has an ability to change the trajectory of a business, products that we offer and how we treat our customers, as much as the most seasoned veteran employee,” Leonard noted.

He calls himself a happiness expert and offers his services to people in all walks of life. He especially focuses on helping entrepreneurs become more successful in what they do. He uses scientific theory to support his methods and has a doctorate in organizational leadership.

“The Happiness Breakthrough is about grabbing a hold of the very best of who you are so you can serve and help other people,” Leonard said.
