Students in ninth through 12th grades are invited to partake in unlimited online tutoring sessions, lessening their risk of summer learning loss. Tutoring sessions are available for students five days a week year-round, 9 a.m. through 7 p.m. Learning Success Partners can help students in subjects including math, science, English and more.

Queen Creek resident Ros Nideffer, captain of the Women’s 55 and Over team, won the Maureen Connolly Cup with teammates Debbie Nasim of Cardiff, Calif.; Judy Newman of Santa Cruz, Calif.; and Julie Cass of Austin, Texas. The tournament is the tennis equivalent of the Davis Cup and Billie Jean King Cup competitions, with top American tennis players representing their country in the 50-, 55- and 60-and-over age groups.

As we observe Mental Health Awareness Month, it’s critical that we remember these statistics are more than just numbers — they represent the lives of real children. This issue is even more pressing when you consider summer break is here, during which many of these students will lose the vital support their schools provide. That is why summer school programs are key to addressing this challenge.

Today, suicide is the second most common cause of death for teens. In fact, according to the Center for Disease Control, one young person dies by suicide every 11 minutes and 17% of all high school students seriously consider suicide. These facts make "Ending the Silence" an even more important program for schools across Arizona.
