The next parent presentation on "The Power of Words" will begin at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 19 at Queen Creek High School, 22149 E. Ocotillo Road.  It is open to the public and QCPD will discuss with students and parents the power words can have and potential consequences.

At a recent Literacy Night event hosted at Schnepf Elementary, children's author Shelly Sheldon visited the campus to read her book "Heart of a Child" to students and parents.

Lead Out Loud is an organization unique to the Queen Creek Unified School District. It was designed to give select students opportunities to develop leadership skills where they may not have been able to otherwise.

“We join an elite group of colleges and universities nationwide with this recognition that have made it their mission to break down barriers so that all students, regardless of their background, have the opportunity to pursue higher education,” said MCCCD Chancellor Dr. Steven R. Gonzales.

In addition to distinguished guests, students have been busy creating heartfelt tributes. They've been diligently coloring flags, each representing a life lost on that fateful day. These flags will be displayed outside the school, serving as a touching visual reminder of the significance of 9/11.

When students take on leadership roles in school, they gain valuable experience working with others, managing projects and making decisions. These skills are highly sought after by employers and can give students a competitive edge when entering the workforce or applying to post-secondary institutions.

As the local community and the district continue to experience growth, we look forward to future collaboration with the diverse business interests converging with our own. These partnerships are poised to yield mutual benefits for our students, staff and the broader community for years to come.
