LaFawn Berry, who currently works as the academic science coach for the district, taught seventh-grade science at Newell Barney Junior High. It was there she taught Sydney Caldwell.

ALA-QC's pom team won state in the jazz category and the pom and cheer team won state in the stunt category Jan. 21.

Four QCUSD schools gathered supplies for Super Kids-Super Sharing, a unique fundraiser for Super Bowl host communities. Groups from Jack Barnes Elementary, Katherine Mecham Barney Elementary, Newell Barney Junior High and Queen Creek Junior High will be donating supplies.

This certification is considered the most respected professional certification available in education. Obtaining this certificate provides professional development that has an impact on lesson plans, student progress, learning goals and tools that enhance student knowledge.

Queen Creek Unified School District students and employees for the month of January have been announced.

Purdy sure gave his hometown fans an exciting run these past few weeks and after Sunday's injury and loss in the NFC championship game he even said in a postgame interview, "I've always had confidence and belief in myself that I could play at this level."

Queen Creek Junior High's Lena Sorensen expressed shock and excitement about winning the district-wide spelling bee and looks forward to proceeding to the state-wide competition in February.

“It was clear that there was something different about him, and not the football stuff,” recalled Perry High School football coach Preston Jones. "I didn’t know how good he was going to be football-wise, but he had a work ethic, a competitive nature, and was already a leader.”

“I am hoping to encourage girls to pursue careers as scientists, engineers, robotics and more," said Robin Flyte, a science teacher at Casteel High School in Queen Creek, who is being awarded $2,500 for advancing representation. "The Equity in STEAM grant will help prepare our students for a bright future after high school.”
