The firefighters, police officers and teen cadets loaded up a truck full of toys that will be gifted to children in the area as part of their work over the weekend at the 14th Annual Christmas Car Show and Toy Drive, hosted by the Kiwanis Club of Queen Creek and the Queen Creek Family Resource Center. The gifts will help make the holidays brighter for many children in the community.

“We know our downtown is bustling with activity throughout the month of December as people are shopping for gifts, dining out with friends and enjoying our beautiful Arizona weather,” said Queen Creek Mayor-elect Julia Wheatley. “As a Town Council, we wanted to really provide that sense of place in our downtown by enhancing our holiday décor. As Queen Creek continues to grow, we are embracing opportunities to maintain and enhance that community feel.”

Torchy’s Tacos is kicking off grand opening day Dec. 14 by offering the first 100 guests in line at 10 a.m. a limited-edition Torchy’s Restaurant Opening T-shirt, which will grant the lucky "Taco Junkie" a year of free Green Chile Queso each time they wear it to the Queen Creek location.

Riggs plans to showcase culture of kindness and her Arizona roots as she represents Miss Rodeo America across the country throughout the next year.

“Respiratory viruses can cause severe disease, especially in infants, young children and older adults,” said Dr. Nick Staab, medical epidemiologist at Maricopa County Department of Public Health. “It is concerning to see so many cases before many holiday gatherings and travel have even happened. We are already seeing a strain on our healthcare systems.”
