You know who they are: they’re the people who are paid pretty good money to explain the news to us, comment on that explanation, and then offer some guidance on how you might want to think about everything they just said. 

Queen Creek Unified School District is intentional about career readiness and we work hard to prepare students for their future. Our goal is to  help each student realize their passion and correlate this with a career as they prepare to make post-secondary plans. 

Measles is not common in the United States. However, as this recent exposure highlights, uncommon does not mean impossible. Measles spreads very easily via the air, through coughing or sneezing; touching infected surfaces or if an infected person is in the same room with others. The virus can remain in the air for several hours and can be transmitted to unvaccinated people even after the infected person has left the room. 

National Caregivers Day, observed on Feb. 16, is dedicated to honoring these selfless individuals who provide personal, physical and emotional support to those in need. As a caregiver, taking care of yourself isn’t just about protecting your own health; it’s about making sure you’re able to care for your loved one, too. 

Parent involvement, engagement with local businesses and community volunteerism in schools are all crucial elements in helping our students prepare for success in both school and life. These positive partnerships foster a sense of community pride and the growth of a vibrant, interconnected community that thrives and prospers.

Amid the romantic symbols of the holiday, it's easy to overlook the love story we share with our money. With numerous options from local credit unions to online banks, choosing the perfect financial partner is in your hands. 

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), Arizona has the 10th lowest rate of deaths caused by heart disease in the nation. By making healthy changes, we can continue this positive trend and improve the heart health of Arizonans. The Live to the Beat campaign led by the CDC Foundation and the Million Hearts Initiative offers recommendations for how you can  prevent heart attack and stroke, as well as take small steps to maintain your heart health.

Editor's UPDATE: Connor Jarnagan attends high school in Queen Creek. On Feb. 7, the Queen Creek Town Council voted 5-2 in favor of supporting SB 1183. Both Gilbert and Chandler councils unanimously supported the bill on Feb. 6 and Feb. 8, respectively. Jarnagan has asked everyone to go online and support SB 1183 at nobrassknuckles.org.

There are current recalls affecting soft cheeses sold in Arizona, including cotija, queso fresco, crema and other cheeses due to possible Listeria contamination. Check your fridge and do not consume anything that may be affected.

I'm asking Arizonans to support SB 1183 to ban brass knuckles or, if the bill gets amended, to restrict them. I will do whatever I can to help with this effort and to represent the victims who have been harmed by this dangerous weapon. I believe this is an issue that can bridge our differences and bring our state leaders together for the safety of our community at a time when teen violence is in the spotlight.
