Pinal County Sheriff Mark Lamb was a celebrity guest, and spoke to the wrestlers and fans. This event will be an annual offering of San Tan Foothills High School, which is part of the Florence Unified School District.

“It might take a while, but we’ll get there,” Clara Childs, a junior, said. “There’s no doubt in my mind. We’re putting in the work now so we can better when we get some experience.”

“We’ve got a taste of winning now and we are competitive,” said senior center Mylie Stones, who is one of two players with the program from the start. “It’s a lot different than the first two years. We’ve won back-to-back games and know what it takes to be champions."

The girls team has performed better thus far at 4-1-1 under coach Kete Meskill, the third coach in three years for the Bulldogs.

This is so special to our organization especially with our involvement and commitment to The Folds of Honor. What a tremendous opportunity to recognize some of the finest players in women’s college golf while honoring those who have paid the ultimate sacrifice.”

“When you think of the perfect player, teammate, person and student to represent your school, Taylor Prigge is at the top of your list every time,” said Kete Meskill, head coach of the girls varsity soccer team.

“You saw what it did to us,” Queen Creek senior running back Payton Barlow said. “We came out and made some mistakes and didn’t play like we did in the first half. They took the lead before we knew it and we never got it back.”

ALA-Queen Creek was the surprise participant in the Arizona Interscholastic Association's football showcase, The Open, and its reward was playing the top-seed Hamilton, ranked as high as No. 3 in the nation.

“From the start of her playing I just knew she loved it right away,” said her father, Devin Perrine. “It was one of those things that just clicked.”
