Near Queen Creek, eastbound State Route 24 (Gateway Freeway) closed between Loop 202 (Santan Freeway) and Ellsworth Road from 5 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, June 25 for pavement maintenance. The east- and westbound Loop 202 ramps to eastbound SR 24 will be closed. Detour: Consider exiting Loop 202 to eastbound Elliot Road and using southbound Ellsworth Road to travel beyond the eastbound SR 24 closure.

“Serving Queen Creek for over 20 years, Mayor Barney dedicated his life to the people of Queen Creek. He was committed to fostering economic growth and creating opportunities for Queen Creek’s growing population. His legacy as a humble public servant who cared for his community will live on," Gov. Doug Ducey said.

Serving 20 years on Town Council, Barney was instrumental in many of the town’s milestones.
