More than 30 kindergarten through 12th grade teachers will each receive between $500 and $1,500 in school supplies. In total, the local credit union will award $45,000 to Arizona educators. In 2023, Desert Financial gave back more than $150,000 to educators throughout Arizona through its Teacher Appreciation program.

On Sunday, July 21, which is recognized as National Ice Cream Day, guests of Thai Chili 2 Go’s City Gate location in Gilbert only, near Queen Creek, will have a chance to win free Thai Chili 2 Go for a year. The first 25 guests in line will receive a free ice cream cup.

This effort shines a spotlight on supporting literacy across the Valley and inspires children to develop a love of reading and learning. Donated books are now being collected at all Macayo’s locations through Wednesday, July 31. New or gently-used books geared for children ages 12 and younger are greatly appreciated during restaurant hours in Queen Creek and other locations.

Roussel has been instrumental in key Haydon projects, notably contributing to successes like Mansel Carter Oasis Park in Queen Creek and Gilbert Regional Park.

All funds raised throughout 2024 will go directly to Phoenix Children’s Hope Fund, which provides support to the area of greatest need, enabling Phoenix Children’s to provide comprehensive care across all ages, conduct innovative research, advance education for the next generation of clinical leaders and advocate for the health and well-being of local children and families.

In addition to offering a wide variety of running and walking gear, Sole Sports offers weekly training runs, supports local running clubs and youth programs, sponsors local races and donates $10,000 back into the local community. Sole Sports hosts a free group run every Wednesday at 6 p.m. Runners who join the running group receive 10% off purchases in the store.

Nomination categories are: Business of the Year, Emerging Business of the Year, Educator of the Year, and Volunteer of the Year. Nominators will need to provide the individual’s name and contact information along with a brief summary and/or specific examples of why the nominator believes his or her nominee meets the criteria.

While the Summer Reads program goes until Sept. 1, the special "buy-nine-get-the-10th-free" Summer Reads card distribution ends on Aug. 15, and the cards must be redeemed by Sept. 1. The program benefits local nonprofit, Southwest Human Development, so it's a win-win: expand your personal library and help foster a love of reading in the community this summer.
