QCPD detectives warn of popular senior scams around town

Since January, detectives have investigated 21 cases of fraud. Some of the victims have lost tens of thousands of dollars.

Scam alert! While victims range in age, Queen Creek Police Department detectives visited the town's Senior Program to educate the group about popular scams that are hitting home here in Queen Creek.

Since January, detectives have investigated 21 cases of fraud. Some of the victims have lost tens of thousands of dollars.

Queen Creek detectives have the following tips:

  • Sweepstake/charity/lottery scam - Suspect says you won big and asks for a fee before you can collect your winnings.
  • Tech support scam - Suspect offers to fix fake computer issue, gains access, steals from accounts.
  • Grandparent scam - imposter says they are holding your loved one hostage.
