William “Peter” Buck-Friis III, 67, of Florence, Arizona, passed away on June 17, 2022.

William “Peter” Buck-Friis III was born on February 28, 1955, to William Peter Buck-Friis Jr. and Verne Geneva Buck-Friis in Fresno, California.  He graduated from McLane High School in 1974.

After graduation, he landed his first job as a construction worker for Clark Construction. He later specialized in maintenance and landscaping for the local school district.  He met Robin Sharmayne Buck-Friis, and they wed in 1983.

Pete was larger than life! He was a happy, energetic, animated, hardworking and dedicated family man. His family meant more to him than anything else in the world, something he often mentioned. He was unendingly proud of his children, McKenzie Buck-Friis, Jayson Potthast, and Matthew Potthast, and wife Robin.

Pete was also a relentless jokester, a genuine soul eager to have a good time. He could often be found taking on household projects for any family member and friend, DIYing with his daughter, and going to sporting events with his children and grandchildren.  He also enjoyed time at the family cabin he helped to build, collecting model cars, using his chainsaw, and splitting wood.

Anyone who knew Pete knew that he was the most joyfully loving father, husband, son and brother a family could ask for. Pete was passionate about his grandchildren. He spent most of his retirement online shopping with his grandkids, taking care of his wife, and attending every possible meaningful event that his family was involved in.  Pete was predeceased by Jayson Potthast, William Peter Buck-Friis Jr., and Verne Geneva Buck-Friis. He is survived by his, wife Robin Buck-Friis; children, McKenzie Buck-Friis, Matthew Potthast and his wife, Amy, and Jayson’s wife, Tonya Potthast.  His grandchildren, Aniya Sweet, Jaida McDowell, Whitney Potthast, Jimmie Potthast, Garrett Potthast, Kaytlyn Potthast, Railey Potthast, and Taylor Potthast and five great grand kids. He is also survived by his sister, Becky Pfeiffer, and her husband, John.

The family requests that all flowers and cards are sent to San Tan Mountain View Funeral Home and Advanced Planning Center at 21809 S Ellsworth Rd. Queen Creek, Arizona 85142. There will be a Celebration of Life service on June 23, 2022, 10:30am at San Tan Mountain View Funeral Home and Advance Planning Center.
