July 3, 1945 – May 23, 2023

On May 23, 2023, Judy Lynn (Rymarcsuk) Scorza, 77, peacefully passed away with her beloved husband Ken and several family members by her side. As she listened to her favorite hymn, “How Great Thou Art,” Judy took her final earthly breaths and was embraced in the arms of her savior Jesus.

Judy, the third of nine children, was born on July 3, 1945, to Louis and Hazel Rymarcsuk in Chicago, IL. A precocious child, she excelled in school and fostered lively and rambunctious relationships with each of her eight siblings.

During her first youth group meeting in July 1956, Judy met a handsome young man named Ken Scorza. This encounter marked the beginning of a fairytale romance, which culminated in their marriage on August 29, 1964.

In 1966, after graduating from Indiana State University with a degree in Elementary Education, Judy and Ken returned to Illinois, where she embarked on her teaching career. She joined Fullerton Elementary School in Addison, IL, as a fourth-grade teacher, where her remarkable talent and infectious enthusiasm made parents request to have their children placed in her classroom. Judy dedicated 35 years to teaching, ultimately retiring from Stone Elementary School.

Following retirement, Judy and Ken fulfilled their dream of settling in Grandhaven, a Del Webb retirement community in Romeoville, IL. Judy approached her post-retirement life with the same passion and zest she had always possessed. Countless trips were taken with both family and friends, resulting in a treasure trove of exceptional memories. From cruises with lifelong friends to fulfilling her bucket list item of driving the entire Route 66, Judy was perpetually eager and excited for new adventures.

When she wasn’t traveling, Judy could often be found engaging in one of her many pursuits, such as biking with her Biker Chicks, participating in games with the Yo Yo’s, playing golf with Ken and their friends, or learning Mah Jong. If there was an activity at Grandhaven, chances were excellent that Judy would be among the organizers, ensuring that everyone had a great time!

To escape the harsh Chicago winters, Judy and Ken became snowbirds, finding refuge in the Greenfield Village community in Mesa, AZ. Much like in Illinois, Judy thrived as the center of the fun in Arizona too! Tennis dinners, card games with family and friends, and attending numerous concerts were just a few of her favorite activities.

However, the most significant aspect of Judy’s life was her profound love for her family. Her husband Ken, three sons, ten grandchildren, eight siblings, and numerous nieces and nephews were recipients of her deep passion and cherished relationships.

Judy was preceded in death by her parents, Louis and Hazel (Oas) Rymarcsuk, her sisters Mary Anne Borowski and Debbie Christenson, her brother Louis Rymarcsuk, and her adored grandson Ashton Blake Scorza.

She is survived by her husband Kenneth Scorza, her sons Brett (Jenny) Scorza, Keith (Melissa) Scorza, and Kevin (Anda) Scorza, as well as her grandchildren Sydney, Kaylie, Kathryn, Ileana, Elizabeth, Jonathan (Johnny), Joseph (Joey), Scarlett, and Noah.

Additionally, Judy is survived by her siblings Joanne (Bob) Deegan, Ted (Mary) Rymarcsuk, Mike (Rae Ann) Rymarcsuk, John (Connie) Rymarcsuk, Jim (Jenny) Rymarcsuk, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Judy cared deeply for the people around her and made a lasting impact on so many lives. Judy, we will love you forever and always.
