My Big Brother…

I’ll always love my Big Brother Gregory!

At times throughout the years, we’d lose contact with each other’s lives.  We’d always reconnect though with a phone call acting like we’d just spoken to each other yesterday.  Gregory and I didn’t always see eye to eye, sometimes debating the entire conversation but always ending our calls the same way, “Thank you for being my Little Sister”, “Thank you for being my Big Brother”!

Our recent reconnection was under dire circumstances when Gregory’s illness progressed to the point where he decided to move to Arizona to be with his Baby Sis’ and brother-in-law Floyd.  We were a close, loving and caring family!  Gregory had his ideas, views and ways about things, and I had mine.  It was obvious that we all loved each other dearly!

Gregory’s symptoms took a short pause allowing him to enjoy many of the things he hadn’t been able to.  Boy was he off and running with that!  As a family we’d take rides around Arizona so Gregory could get the lay of the land; go shopping for groceries where he’d jump on a store scooter and meet back up at the checkout excited about the foods he could eat again; shopping for impromptu gifts he loved to bestow on family and friends; sitting and chatting about the past, present, future, religion and many other topics of the day.  And of course, we’d debate 😊

My Big Brother, Staff Sergeant Gregory C. Moore, USMC, Retired, was a very proud father, grandfather, uncle, brother, and loyal friend.  He was a deep thinker, meticulous and organized, a researcher, and master negotiator.  My Big Brother positively impacted everyone he met!

Gregory loved games of logic such as chess.  He had purchased a chess set to teach his nephew Robert and great-nephew Kennedy the game prior to his departure.

And while Gregory was still able to swallow, he loved a good slurpee and warm buttered madeleines!  That was his wonderful special treat!

Through the various stages of Gregory’s illness, he persevered doing everything in his power to continue to run his race hoping for healing and recovery.  My Big Brother came to understand that his ultimate healing would be in the arms of his Lord and Savior.

Once My Big Brother had decided on a matter he’d say, “that’s it, that’s all”, meaning he’d made up his mind about the issue.  On Tuesday evening, July 11, 2023, My Big Brother Gregory took his final breath, and his Spirit departed his earthly house to be with his Lord and Savior in rest until his Savior returns…’that’s it, that’s all’

1 Thessalonians 4:16 – “For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout with the voice of the archangel and with the trump of God and the dead in Christ shall rise first…”

Gregory Clarence Moore was born February 13, 1953, in Detroit, Michigan, the 1st of (3) children to the late Alice (Ellis) Moore and O. C. Moore.  He is preceded in death by Joann Brown (wife), Valerie Denise Moore (sister), and other family members.  Gregory is survived by his beloved daughter Valerie Denise Brown, granddaughter Joi Danielle Brown, son Kitrell Antwain Brown, sister Alisa (Moore) Neeley, brother-in-law Floyd Leslie Neeley, and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.

His body will be laid to rest at the National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona on Friday July 28, 2023 at 12:30 p.m. at 23029 N Cave Creek Road, Phoenix, Arizona 85024, with a much-deserved Honor Guard Service.

For Mother’s Day 2023, my Big Brother presented me with a beautiful plaque that I’ll treasure for the rest of my life.  It reads:

                “To My Sister”

Miles apart or staying alongside we will always be connected BY Heart.

No matter what life has in store for us

WE CAN DEPEND ON EACH OTHER

                Wherever we go

                Whatever we do

                I WILL ALWAYS

                Love you!

                Rest in peace Big Brother…
