Gary Arden Joplin, 82, of Florence, AZ, passed away January 11, 2024 in Goodyear, AZ. He was born in Decatur, IL. Gary is survived by his wife, Ruth Joplin; his daughters, Garianne, Robin and Christina; his son, Gary; 13 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild.
Gary’s career included 29 years with Prudential Life Insurance and 10 years working at Mountain View High School in the security department. He spent 24 years at Mountain View High doing the chains for football games. In addition, he coached his grandsons in Pop Warner football. Gary was involved with the Boy Scouts for ten years, obtaining the rank of Eagle Scout. He was also Assistant Scout Leader. In later years, Gary won the Senior Olympics Racquetball Championship.
Gary had many interests that kept him busy. He loved spending time with his grandchildren, as well as golf, Black River fishing, the Cardinals, Mt. View High School football games, and movies with milk duds. He will be remembered and missed by all who loved him.
