Teacher Appreciation Week: Time to give back to Queen Creek educators

With Teacher Appreciation Day coming up on May 2 and Teacher Appreciation Week May 8-12, there are many ways to say “thank you” to your student's teachers.

Teacher Appreciation Day is Tuesday, May 2 and we can all recall at least one teacher who has made a difference in our lives. They help and uplift, listen and guide, and most importantly, teach and prepare.

With Teacher Appreciation Week coming up May 8-12, there are many ways to say “thank you” to your student's teachers.

Queen Creek Unified School District (QCUSD) offers some ideas to help you search for the perfect gift:

1. Gift cards

What teacher wouldn’t want a gift card to one of their favorite places? From coffee shops to clothing stores, from movie theaters to restaurants, teachers will love this simple but very appreciative gift. Gift cards are easy to store in your student’s backpack as you send them off to school. Just be sure they remember to give it to their teacher when they get there.

2. School supplies

Although we are close to the end of the school year, it doesn’t hurt to help out with school or classroom supplies. Think hand sanitizers, dry erase markers, tissues or notebooks. You can always ask your student’s teacher what’s out of stock in their classroom in order to help them finish the school year strong.

3. Color a picture

Teachers love original works of art! Show appreciation for all the hard work teachers do. QCUSD will feature you on their social media channels. Just follow the steps below:

  1. Download the "My Teacher is the Best" coloring page.
  2. Have your student get creative with the page (draw, write, color, etc.). Be sure your student signs their artwork, too.
  3. Snap a picture of your student with their artwork.
  4. Send your photo to QCUSD Marketing with the subject line "Teacher Appreciation Day 2023."

The deadline to send in your photo is April 30. Be sure to have your student give their artwork to their teacher on Teacher Appreciation Day, May 2.

4. Favorite treat

Got a teacher with a sweet tooth? You can be extra sweet and bring your teacher’s favorite treat to class. It can be as simple as a candy bar or their favorite beverage.

5. Fresh flowers

Freshen up a teacher’s day with a bouquet of flowers. Have your student pick out a bouquet from the grocery store to deliver to their teacher. It will help make the classroom look extra pretty and add a smile to the teacher’s, and everyone else’s, faces.
