Register for Queen Creek’s Citizen Leadership Institute by Nov. 6

The Town of Queen Creek’s Citizen Leadership Institute registration closes on Monday. Applicants will be contacted in mid-November with additional information. There is no cost to participate.

Registration for the Town of Queen Creek’s award-winning Citizen Leadership Institute (CLI) opened Oct. 23 and will remain open through Monday, Nov. 6.

CLI is designed to engage residents through informative sessions that provide an in-depth look at town programs, planning and initiatives. The program provides an avenue for residents to get involved and assist those interested in serving as local leaders on a board or commission. CLI is free and open to anyone who lives or works in the Queen Creek area, however, most town committees require residency within town limits.

The Leadership Institute consists of 10 sessions on Tuesday evenings where participants learn about local issues and get a more detailed understanding of how local government works. Sessions include guest speakers, tours of various town facilities and a group project. Participants get to know their elected officials, staff department heads and local leaders from other organizations. The topics include local government, planning and zoning, economic development, transportation, public infrastructure, parks and recreation, public safety, municipal budgeting, and more.

The 2024 Citizen Leadership Institute will begin on Jan. 9 with orientation and will go through the spring. There will also be an optional tour and project presentation practice night. For more information and to view the full schedule, visit QueenCreekAZ.gov/CitizenLeadership.

In order to graduate, participants must attend seven of the 10 sessions, one Town Council meeting and one commission or committee meeting, participate in one class project and one volunteer activity. Graduation will be held during a Queen Creek Town Council meeting.

Registration closes on Monday, Nov. 6. Applicants will be contacted in mid-November with additional information. There is no cost to participate.
