Ultimately, tax considerations probably shouldn’t be the key driver of your investment choices. Nonetheless, knowing the tax implications of your investments — specifically, what type of taxes they may generate and when these taxes will be due — can help you evaluate which investment choices are appropriate for your needs.

February also marks American Heart Month. African-Americans are often disproportionately affected by heart disease and its related risk factors, including inequitable access to medication, preventive services, and engagement in fitness and wellness activities.

It was played informally, with varying rules, for many decades in American cities like New York by young men in their leisure time, including volunteer firefighters. Competitive with each other in all things, fire companies often played against each other and eventually formed clubs. This led Alexander Joy Cartwright (1820-1892) to draft a set of official rules for the game in 1845.

Measles is not common in the United States. However, as this recent exposure highlights, uncommon does not mean impossible. Measles spreads very easily via the air, through coughing or sneezing; touching infected surfaces or if an infected person is in the same room with others. The virus can remain in the air for several hours and can be transmitted to unvaccinated people even after the infected person has left the room. 

National Caregivers Day, observed on Feb. 16, is dedicated to honoring these selfless individuals who provide personal, physical and emotional support to those in need. As a caregiver, taking care of yourself isn’t just about protecting your own health; it’s about making sure you’re able to care for your loved one, too. 

Parent involvement, engagement with local businesses and community volunteerism in schools are all crucial elements in helping our students prepare for success in both school and life. These positive partnerships foster a sense of community pride and the growth of a vibrant, interconnected community that thrives and prospers.
