The Maricopa County Parks and Recreation Department will initiate its annual fire ban on Wednesday, May 1. The annual fire ban dates align with the Air Quality Department's burn activity regulations. Arizona law requires that all municipalities adopt an annual, balanced budget. The Fiscal Year 2024-25 budget totals $723.8 million, a 17% decrease from the Fiscal Year 2023-24 budget. Nearly 60% of the budget is for infrastructure investments, including $159.7 million to continue progress related to transportation improvements.
