Lester LaVergne Anderson, 88, of Mesa, Arizona, passed away on Sunday, September 18, 2022.

Lester was born on August 7, 1934, in Chicago, IL, the son of Loyal Carl and Madeline Mae (Lee) Anderson, Sr. He married Velma Lucille Hoover on February 19, 1955, in Mexico, MO.

Lucille proceeded him in death in 2011. Les and Lucy had two sons, Lester Laine Anderson and Kenneth Dale Anderson.

He is survived by four siblings, Joy Scott, Tom (Jane) Anderson, Dale (Tami) Anderson and Carla (Stanley) Hudson. He is also survived by several grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Lester is preceded in death by his sweetheart, Lucy, as well as his two sons Laine and Ken, his parents, Loyal and Madeline Anderson, Sr, and four brothers, Loyal Jr., John (Gene), Donald and Jack Anderson.

Lester loved the Lord and served as pastor of several Nazarene Churches throughout his life, as well as serving in the Missouri Nazarene District Office in his final years before retiring. He also loved his family, hunting, fishing and tending to his beautiful yard at his home in Mesa. He had a great sense of humor and kept many laughing with his silly antics and sayings, such as when he would introduce himself as “I’m Les, not more.”

A graveside service will be held on Friday, September 23, 2022, at 10:00 AM at Mountain View Funeral Home. Lester will be laid to rest next to his sweetheart of 67 years, Velma Lucille Anderson.
