Karen Sue Darnell, age 79, passed away in Queen Creek, Arizona on December 18, 2022 due to long term medical complications. She was well cared for and in the presence of family when she passed.

She was born and raised in Gardena, California until moving to Arizona in 2020 to be close to her only daughter.

Karen was born to her father Virgil, who passed away when she was very young and her mother, Ada, who raised Karen and four other siblings.

Karen had two daughters, the eldest being Susie whom she is survived by, and the youngest, Sherri Ann, who passed away prematurely and was laid to rest at Roosevelt Memorial Park Cemetery in Gardena, California.

Karen enjoyed crocheting, handcrafting cards to give to loved ones, and watching old movies.   She maintained strong connections with old friends whom she loved very much until her passing.

Karen demonstrated strength throughout her life from being a single parent raising her beloved daughter, Susie.  Karen fought and survived cancer on four separate occasions and found the strength through God, her family, and friends to endure.

Karen is survived by her oldest daughter, Susie, as well as Susie’s husband, Mike, two grandsons, Anthony and Daniel, granddaughter and husband, Naomi and Jordon.

She is also survived by her younger brother, Bill, and her older sister, Betty, along with her nieces and nephews.  She loved her family very much and remained close to them until her passing.

Karen is now resting in ever-lasting peace and will be laid to rest at Roosevelt Memorial Park Cemetery in Gardena, California where her second daughter, Sherri Ann, was laid to rest.

In lieu of sending flowers, the family wishes that loved ones make donations in support of breast cancer research in Karen’s honor.
