John Fischer began as a Colorado Mountain Man in his youth, and spent his last years as an Arizona Cowboy.

In between, there were a whole lot of adventures and life experiences. He graduated from Middle Park High School in Grand County, Colorado; and received his Bachelor of Science in Education degree from Northern Colorado University, Greeley, Colorado; and a Masters degree in Business Administration (MBA) from Pacific Lutheran University in Tacoma, Washington.

He was a born teacher, wanting to question and teach and explain everything that came in his path.  He loved teaching and taught all levels through the years, including elementary, high school, and college. A few years were spent as director of teacher marketing and mobilization for English Language Institute of China, a non-profit group which trained and sent teachers to teach English, and the Word of God, in China.

Using his business education and background, he also became president and ceo of a manufacturing and distribution company for custom site furniture, Frances Andrew, LLC.

John was a talented and creative craftsman, especially in later years, utilizing the gifts of the Arizona desert, such as precious stones, gourds, and plants, for example, to make beautiful pieces of jewelry and objets d’art.  He was a student of Native American history and its peoples, and sought to honor their history through his craftwork.

He was an avid sportsman, as a hunter, skier, camper and hiker on land, and as a fisherman and boat owner on the water.

But most importantly of all, he is remembered as a husband, father, and grandfather who loved his family very much as his number one priority.

He loved his wife of 53 years, Gayle, as they became partners in a lifetime. He was devoted to his daughters, Carly and Lindsay, and took great delight in his 3 grandsons and one granddaughter.

He was kind, loving, loyal, unselfish and giving, and exhibited a sense of humor that friends and family came to appreciate.  He lived more by example than by a preaching of words.

We will always remember him in these ways, and we shall dearly miss him, as he rides off into a glorious Gold Canyon sunset.  Rest in peace, our dear John.
