Hardt emerged victorious among seven other finalists nationwide.

In his remarkable 21-year tenure at the helm of Queen Creek's track and field program, Hardt has coached over 240 meets, achieving top-three placements 95% of the time. Leading both girls and boys teams, he boasts 120 invitational victories and numerous state championships, including three for the girls team.

Hardt's dedication extends beyond track and field, having also coached basketball, football and baseball at the school.

"Athletics is not just about competition and winning, but a journey that shapes one’s character, fostering qualities that extend well beyond the playing field and empowering individuals to become better versions of themselves," Hardt said, reflecting on his coaching journey.

Recognizing coaches since 1982, NFHS selected Hardt through a rigorous evaluation process, making him the 12th national coach of the year from Arizona since the 2016–2017 school year.
