Queen Creek Chamber of Commerce to host National Civics Bee Feb. 23

Twenty middle students from across Queen Creek and the East Valley will participate in the competition to demonstrate their civics knowledge and discuss how they would solve a problem facing their community.

On Friday, Feb. 23 the Queen Creek Chamber of Commerce will host the 2024 National Civics Bee aimed at encouraging more young Americans to engage in civics and contribute to their communities.

Twenty middle students from across Queen Creek and the East Valley will participate in the competition to demonstrate their civics knowledge and discuss how they would solve a problem facing their community.

“We received hundreds of student essays, it’s a big deal to be a finalist. Students will be competing for up to $500 in cash prizes and the opportunity to advance to the state competition in May,” said Chris Clark, president and CEO of the Queen Creek Chamber of Commerce. “We are very happy our chamber was chosen to host this event. It’s crucial that our students have a solid understanding of government and be able to discuss ideas and concepts in meaningful ways.”

The 2024 National Civics Bee will be from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. on Feb. 23 at Combs Performing Arts Center in San Tan Valley, at 2505 E. Germann Road.
