J.O. Combs Unified welcomes 2 new administrators to leadership team

"We are thrilled to welcome Peter and Carly to our leadership team for the upcoming school year," said Dr. Gregory Wyman, superintendent of the J.O. Combs Unified School District. "I know that their passion, knowledge and experience will offer invaluable contributions to our schools, students and families, and we look forward to working alongside these talented professionals as we continue to serve the Combs community."

The J.O. Combs Unified School District has introduced two new members of its leadership team for the 2024-2025 school year.

Peter Quinn will be the new principal at Ranch Elementary School. He comes to Combs with over a decade of experience in education. After completing his undergraduate work at Moorhead State in Minnesota, Quinn moved to Arizona and became an instructor at an alternative school where he taught a variety of content areas, including history, government, economics and PBL. Quinn continued to serve in teaching roles in a wide range of content areas in both Queen Creek and Mesa, and continued his personal educational pursuits at Northern Arizona University where he received his master's degree. In his most recent role prior to joining Combs, Quinn served as a middle school principal in Casa Grande, and he looks forward to serving as the new campus leader for Ranch Elementary School.

"I am honored and excited to join Ranch Elementary and the J.O. Combs Unified School District," said Quinn. "I look forward to supporting our mission as we continue to implement the systems that Ms. Kruse and her team have established at this A+ School of Excellence."

Carly Spearman will be the new dean of students at Combs Middle School. She began her journey in education earning a bachelor's degree in biology from Hastings College. Building upon this foundation, Spearman pursued further studies, earning a master's degree in curriculum and instruction from Doane University and a master's degree in educational leadership from Arizona State University. Throughout her career, Spearman has developed a diverse skill set and comprehensive understanding of effective instructional practices through her roles as a teacher in both middle school and high school science. In her current position as a content coach for the J.O. Combs Unified School District, Spearman provides support and guidance to elementary, middle and high school teachers in the areas of science and social studies.

"As I step into the role of dean of students at Combs Middle School (CMS), I am eager to contribute to a shared mission of academic excellence and student well-being. I am particularly excited to join the strong community at CMS and support the ongoing efforts to reach high student achievement and ensure every student feels valued, supported and empowered to reach their full potential."
