The J.O. Combs Unified School District in San Tan Valley has received global recognition for a financial reporting distinction from the Association of School Business Officials (ASBO) International.
For the 12th consecutive year, the local school district has been awarded the Certificate of Excellence in Financial Reporting (COE) from ASBO for the fiscal year ending 2022.
This award recognizes districts that have met the program’s high standards for financial reporting and transparency. Applicants submit their Annual Comprehensive Financial Report (ACFR) for review by a team of financial professionals who provide feedback to improve future documents. If the report meets the requirements of the program, it may receive the Certificate of Excellence.
A district’s participation in the COE program can facilitate bond rating and continuing bond disclosure processes.
"This continued recognition not only emphasizes our district's ongoing commitment to fiscal responsibility and transparency, but also serves as a critical means of communication for our taxpayers and stakeholders," said J.O. Combs Business Services Director Julie Cook. "Our team continues to meet the highest financial reporting standards, and we are proud to support a community of such deserving students and staff."
District Superintendent Dr. Greg Wyman also recognized this achievement at a recent governing board meeting where the award was presented to district staff.
