Graduates, awards, achievements: QCUSD celebrates successful school year

This year, our district saw milestones in many areas as we opened our new high school, received recognition for existing schools, and as our students achieved great things in their academic and extracurricular pursuits.

As more than 700 Queen Creek Unified School District (QCUSD) graduates embark on a new beginning, it is a time of reflection, joy and anticipation for what lies ahead.

This year, our district saw milestones in many areas as we opened our new high school, received recognition for existing schools, and as our students achieved great things in their academic and extracurricular pursuits.

Here are some of the highlights:

  • QCUSD opened Crismon High School, surpassing expectations with more than 1,000 students enrolled.
  • Jack Barnes Elementary received the A+ School of Excellence Award from the Arizona Educational Foundation.
  • QCUSD students’ College Readiness Benchmark scores exceeded the state average by 15% in math and 17% in ELA.
  • QCUSD seniors were eligible for a total of more than $42.4 million in scholarships.
  • Forty-four student-athletes signed to play for colleges and universities.
  • 11 athletics programs achieved top 10 rankings in the state:
    - Eastmark High School’s Softball, Boys Track and Girls Volleyball teams.
    - Queen Creek High School’s Girls Cross Country, Girls Soccer, Softball, Girls Volleyball teams with Baseball, Girls Track & Field and Beach Volleyball winning State Runner Up.
  • Eastmark’s Football team won the State Championship.
  • Seven QCUSD music programs achieved Superior ratings at multiple music festivals across the state as well as first and second place rankings in national competitions.
  • The Queen Creek High Thespians ranked second in state and fourth in the nation for National Qualifiers for the International Thespian Festivals.
  • Also, 319 QCUSD students completed Technical Skills Assessments, many obtaining certifications that will enhance their future careers.

As we applaud our students for their success, we also recognize our teachers, staff and administrators for the work they do every day to prioritize our students and prepare them for their future. It’s also essential to acknowledge the role played by our families and community members in these accomplishments. Their support, encouragement and belief in the power of education has been instrumental in shaping the lives of our students.
