9 QCUSD seniors to receive Arizona State Seal of Arts Proficiency

In order to receive the Seal of Arts Proficiency, students must maintain above a B average in a combination of Arts and Career and Technical Education courses totaling at least four credit hours, have a minimum of 80 extracurricular hours in their chosen discipline, and complete a capstone project.

Seven seniors from Queen Creek High School (QCHS) and two seniors from Eastmark High School (EHS) will receive the State Seal of Arts Proficiency on their diploma this year. These students are receiving the distinction because of their proficiencies in arts, music, theater and dance programs both inside and outside of school. The student’s capstone projects range from solo performances to large art murals to full theater productions.

The Art Seal is given by the Arizona Department of Education’s Office of Arts Education. These nine seniors will be joining the 39 Queen Creek Unified School District (QCUSD) students who have already received the Seal of Arts Proficiency since its introduction four years ago.

“The fine arts have always played a huge role in my life ever since I was young,” said Arts Seal recipient Grace Stevenson, who organized a student-led concert for her capstone project. "I am confident that they will continue to mentor and educate me throughout the rest of my life.”
