Things to do: November happenings at AZ Boardwalk

Take advantage of all the things going on this month at the AZ Boardwalk in Scottsdale. 

There's a lot going on this month at the AZ Boardwalk in Scottsdale.

Here's the highlights of their November events: 

Butterfly Wonderland

November brings an ample amount of activities to Butterfly Wonderland, most that are free with admission. On Nov. 10 and 17, Butterfly Wonderland’s Education Specialists will be releasing striking, tropical butterflies in the conservatory during their Whimsical Wings events. Free with general admission guests have the chance to watch these exquisite butterflies take flight.

Nov. 11, 18 and 25 bring stingray and shark feedings in the Tropical Waters Observation Pool free with admission. Guests will get to ask any questions they have and meet Agatha, their horn shark.

At 3 p.m. on Nov. 11 and 18 there will be bug talks in the Butterfly Conservatory, “Tickle Time” book signing and meet the author on Nov. 12, the Bug Club for Kids Nov. 12 and 26, a butterfly painting class Nov. 17, waking u with butterflies Nov. 18, a photography class and more. There’s something for everyone to take advantage of whether they’re into arts and crafts, learning about bugs and butterflies, photography, etc.

The Vibration Emergence Gong Meditation will be taking place Nov. 16 in the Chrysalis Emergence Gallery. For $30 guests will follow yoga instructor, Elicia Alexander through a variety of stretches and meditation while feeling the effects of a gong bath.

Museum of Illusions

Starting on Black Friday, Nov. 24 through Cyber Monday, Nov. 27 the Museum of Illusions will be having a variety of sales and specials for museum entry, gift cards and merchandise.

Pangaea Land of the Dinosaurs Dino Day

On Nov. 11 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Pangaea Land of the Dinosaurs is hosting a free Dino Day! Life-like costumed dinosaurs will be roaming around the AZ Boardwalk doing meet and greets. There will be a fossil shop, Jurassic moto pool, inflatables, live reptiles and more. 

Anyone in attendance can receive 25% off entry to Pangaea Land of the Dinosaurs for that day. Take advantage of this deal and immerse yourself in the 20,000-square-foot attraction where 50 animatronic dinosaurs make guests feel like they are transported back in time to when dinosaurs roamed our landscape.

Candlelight Open Air Concerts

For a variety of musical tastes the AZ Boardwalk courtyard will be hosting candlelight open air concerts where guests can “experience the magic of a live, multi-sensory musical experience under the gentle glow of candlelight.” Tickets start at $20. 

From 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. on Nov. 10 they’ll be featuring the best of Hans Zimmer.

There will be three live performances featuring the music of Queen and more at the AZ Boardwalk’s courtyard. On Nov. 10 the tribute will take place from 9 to 10 p.m. Two shows will be happening Nov. 17 at 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. and 9 to 10 p.m.

On Nov. 30 from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. experience the best of Joe Hisaishi and for the Best of Vivaldi’s "Four Seasons" and more, get your tickets for Nov. 30, 9 to 10 p.m.

Movies at the Boardwalk, “The Super Mario Bros. Movie”

It’s first come first serve at this free family event so make sure to come early and claim your spot. Bring along folding chairs and blankets to keep yourself comfortable when the movie starts at dusk. 

Throughout the event on Nov. 11 there will be games and prizes along with a variety of food options. Before the movie starts guests get to meet the characters and pose for photos, participate in Mario Bros. card crafts, play Plinko and enter to win Mario Bros. Monopoly, cap, light and mystery bag item. The event will be from 5 to 8 p.m.

Pup Fest

Get your pup ready because on Nov. 12 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. when the AZ Boardwalk will be hosting the Pup Fest. Connect with other local pet owners while your pups scout out new friends. There will be everything from dog races to photo opportunities, an agility course, dog gym, “paw-dicures” and spa, bone bar, trick contests, prizes, giveaways, adoption opportunities and more.

The event is completely free and all proceeds collected will benefit the Arizona Humane Society.

Harvest Festival

Celebrate all things fall at the Harvest Festival. From 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Nov. 18, this free festival will feature pumpkin picking and decorating, bounce houses, slides, face painting, coloring contests, live entertainment, games, prizes and giveaways.

Sound Ceremony and Mindful Market

From 4:30 to 8:30 p.m. on Nov. 19, it’s all about relaxation at the AZ Boardwalk. Allow yourself the time to fully ground yourself as the buzz of the holiday season surrounds us. The hope is that guests will come, create memories, heal and connect with companies who care. 

Sound and energy therapist, Join Serenity will be there to guide guests who wish to participate through a sound meditation ceremony filled with vibration of crystal bowls, gongs and more. Guests can lay down or sit on a mat while Serenity guides them through this peaceful light and sound meditation.

Scottsdale Sparkle Black Friday Market 

Shop local and enjoy some great deals from over 80 vendors from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Nov. 24-26. While you’re looking around all the unique items, there’s plenty of free kids activities to keep your younger ones occupied. They’ll have everything from music to face painting, glitter tattoos, character appearances, sand art projects and more.
