Experience the diverse music of Southeast Asia through curator talks, traditional dances, and live performances.

Celebrate the diverse music of Southeast Asia with a series of traditional dances, live performances, instrument explorations and more for the whole family this weekend at the Musical Instrument Museum (MIM).

Experience Southeast Asia on Saturday, June 8 and Sunday, June 9, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. The special exhibit is included with paid museum admission and is free for members.

Activities include:

  • Instrument exploration of the Gamelan Ensemble.

  • Gallery tour of Southeast Asia led by our curator for Asia and Oceania, Eddie Chia-Hao Hsu.

  • Pop-up performances of the đàn tranh plucked zither, a popular traditional instrument of Vietnam, and Rojak Jam’s arrangements of Malaysian traditional folk songs.
