The Foster Alliance awarded $175K from Mercy C.A.R.E.S.

Grant to support the Mobile Unit Program. This is the second year The Foster Alliance has been awarded a grant. In 2023, the organization received over $90,000 from Mercy C.A.R.E.S.

The Foster Alliance, Arizona’s largest provider of essential resources for foster families, has been awarded a 2024 Mercy C.A.R.E.S. Community Reinvestment Grant in the amount of $175,000. The grant will fund the organization’s initiative to serve the foster community in northern Arizona through its Mobile Unit Program and establishing a community hub in Flagstaff. These two programs will help foster families outside Maricopa County get essential items like clothes, back-to-school items, shoes and beds. Previously, these families would travel to the Phoenix headquarters to receive these necessities.

“We are so grateful for our partnership with Mercy C.A.R.E.S and all we have accomplished together for the foster community,” shared Bethany Eggleston, vice president of development and marketing for The Foster Alliance. “This grant has allowed us to expand access to our services drastically, meaning more of the over 14,000 foster children in our state are getting the essentials they need no matter where they happen to rest their heads at night.”

Mercy C.A.R.E.S., which stands for Community Action Resources Education and Service, is Mercy Care’s community giving initiative. Through grant funding, sponsorships, volunteer efforts and board participation, Mercy C.A.R.E.S. supports the Arizona Health Care Cost Containment System’s Whole Person Care Initiative, which addresses Social Risk Factors to improve health outcomes.

“Mercy Care is thrilled to provide The Foster Alliance with a community reinvestment grant. As an organization dedicated to improving the health and well-being of all Arizonans, and particularly those who are underserved with complex health needs, we are happy to partner with The Foster Alliance in making a positive impact on our community,” said Trisha Stuart, Mercy Care director of community relations. “Through Mercy C.A.R.E.S., we partner with organizations across the state whose health focus areas align with ours, such as managing chronic conditions, supporting mental health and well-being, addressing housing insecurity and empowering recovery for substance use.”
