The summer months often bring monsoons that can damage trees. To prevent tree damage, implement these tree-care practices year-round to keep your trees strong and resilient.
- Water your trees at the canopy’s edge. Move emitters out as needed to encourage roots to spread and anchor.
- Avoid seasonal pruning practices. You don’t need to prune seasonally to prepare trees for monsoons — thinning a tree’s canopy often contributes to storm damage.
- Water trees with the right amount of water. Too much water for desert trees can cause them to grow quickly, forming weak limbs that break easily in storms.
