The Town of Queen Creek was recognized last week by the Arizona Chamber of Commerce and Industry for its work to attract businesses, which has fueled growth in the region, particularly in the advanced manufacturing industry.
“As we continue to develop in Queen Creek, we’re expanding infrastructure, we’re increasing our employment options, diversifying our business base and, of course, prioritizing our residents’ high quality of life. We just love to welcome so many diverse businesses and companies coming to our community, and we are committed to ensuring we remain business friendly without compromising our high design standards and safety,” said Queen Creek Mayor Julia Wheatley.
Queen Creek is consistently ranked one of the fastest growing communities in the United States. The town’s General Plan helps guide the growth, which includes the northeastern area of town, primarily owned by the Arizona State Land Department. The General Plan identifies it as a special district and growth area – encouraging the private investment that fosters job creation.
Last year, LG Energy Solution announced an investment of $5.5 billion for an advanced manufacturing facility located in this area of town, bringing thousands of jobs – which aligns with the state’s goals to be a leader in the high-tech industry.
In addition to development in the town’s northern tier, Queen Creek continues to see developments in the commercial areas offering conveniences for residents, including Costco, and a second Fry’s Marketplace, Sprouts, Target and Safeway.
The town is also continuing to invest in the downtown core, actively working to implement the vision of creating a vibrant and active district downtown core that compliments the culture and heritage of the community and provides a range of venues that celebrate all that is unique and special in Queen Creek. Three new roadway connectors are slated to open this summer in the downtown core, working towards creating a walkable area with parklets, shade and establishing a sense of place.
As the town continues to evaluate opportunities to enhance its business-friendly environment, an opportunity to reduce timelines was recently approved. The Town Council approved two ordinances that increase efficiencies for Development Services customers and staff (more information here).
