Name approved for new Queen Creek high school

QCUSD's Governing Board voted to approve the name Tuesday night, marking a major milestone in the progress of the district's third high school.

Queen Creek Unified School District's newest school will be named Crismon High School. QCUSD's Governing Board voted to approve the name Tuesday night, marking a major milestone in the progress of the district's third high school.

Superintendent Dr. Perry Berry thanked everyone involved in the naming process, which included a subcommittee that selected three options.

"I want to thank the Governing Board Subcommittee for their research, input and behind-the-scenes effort in providing the board with naming options to consider," said Berry. "I would also like to thank the board for their passion, interest and direction."

Construction has already begun for the school located at 21942 E. Riggs Road, just north of Riggs and east of Crismon roads. The 300,000-square-foot facility will be built in two phases and include full fine arts and athletic amenities. The school's academic programs will include top career and college readiness courses in four career path academies focused on STEM, Health Services, Business and Leadership, and Design and Construction.

Crismon High School is expected to open for the 2022-2023 school year.
