Local Walmart, Sam's employees help combat food insecurity during National Volunteer Month

"The Fight Hunger campaign is an amazing partnership between nonprofits, our customers who donate and our associates who volunteer," said Amanda Dubose, senior manager of community relations for Walmart.

In recognition of National Volunteer Month, employees from Walmart stores in Queen Creek, Gilbert and Mesa volunteered at the United Food Bank in Mesa, helping pack 13,000 pounds of food as part of the Fight Hunger. Spark Change. campaign on April 25.

"The Fight Hunger campaign is an amazing partnership between nonprofits, our customers who donate and our associates who volunteer," said Amanda Dubose, senior manager of community relations for Walmart. "We care about the communities we operate in and want to give back in as many ways as possible. Our associates look forward to opportunities that allow them to give back. United Food Bank has been our partner for many years, and we appreciate all their work and support fighting hunger statewide."

Another group from the Sam's Club in Gilbert volunteered at Vested Interest Community Services as part of the second Sam's Club Day of Service. The employees packed food boxes for residents from the Town of Guadalupe. Most of the food was donated by the Sam's Club in Gilbert.

"Volunteering at Vested Interest Community Services has been a great way for us to give back to the community, and in turn, allows our team members to work together towards a common cause, building stronger bonds and relationships," said Dewey Schager, Sam's Club manager. "It's an opportunity to positively impact the lives of others, and the entire team always returns to the store feeling energized and fulfilled."
