Local House of Refuge on track for success with Union Pacific grant

Since 1996, House of Refuge, Inc. has provided families in crisis a proven path out of homelessness. Professional staff help residents regain dignity, improve income, work toward self-reliance and successfully graduate into stable housing in the community.

House of Refuge in Mesa is the proud recipient of a $15,000 Union Pacific Railroad Community Ties Giving Program grant in support of their transitional housing program for homeless families.   

This grant award will fund housing in a peaceful neighborhood setting and essential social services for an entire year – including utilities, property maintenance, household goods, case management, employment assistance, adult education and youth enrichment programming.

Union Pacific’s Community Ties Giving Program provides small- and medium-sized grants that align with the railroad’s priority cause areas in safety, workforce development and community spaces.

Located on 20 acres in southeast Mesa on a portion of the former Williams Air Force Base near Queen Creek, House of Refuge is a 501(c)(3) charitable organization that provides safe, comfortable transitional housing for families experiencing homelessness.
