Almost Famous Theatre Company presents 'White Christmas' this weekend

“Our young adult and youth performers have been working tremendously hard on vocal harmonies and tap dancing, and we can’t wait for them to hit the stage and perform for everyone,” said Garth Williams, producing director of Almost Famous Theatre Company.

The Almost Famous Theatre Company presents Irving Berlin’s "White Christmas," a Young Adult Production, Dec. 3-5 at The Salvation Army Ray & Joan Kroc Center of Phoenix.

Based on the beloved timeless film, this heartwarming musical adaptation features 17 Irving Berlin songs. Two wartime buddies, Bob Wallace and Phil Davis have a successful song-and-dance act after World War II. With romance in mind, the two follow a duo of beautiful singing sisters en route to their Christmas show at a Vermont inn, which just happens to be owned by Bob and Phil’s former army commander. With a dazzling score featuring well-known standards including “Blue Skies,” “I Love A Piano,” “How Deep Is the Ocean” and the perennial title song, "White Christmas" is an uplifting musical for the whole family.

“We invite everyone to ring in their holiday season with our production of Irving Berlin’s 'White Christmas.' This timeless tale of joy and goodwill is something the whole family will enjoy. Our young adult and youth performers have been working tremendously hard on vocal harmonies and tap dancing, and we can’t wait for them to hit the stage and perform for everyone,” said Garth Williams, producing director of Almost Famous Theatre Company.

Almost Famous’ cast includes: Tristin Miller, youth director; John Luke Osorio, musical director; Morgan James as Bob Wallace; Aidan Hyde as Phil Davis; Macy Bonnett as Betty Haynes; Vivienne Spamer as Judy Haynes; Chase Buchholz as General Waverly; Abigail Golden as Martha Watson; Cameron Richards as Susan Waverly and Sebastian Girodroux as Ralph Sheldrake.

Almost Famous Theatre Company was founded by casting directors and acting coaches Jan and Garth Williams in 2012. Together they have more than 40 years of experience in the arts across television, film and theater. Recognizing there was a need in the Metropolitan Phoenix market to develop youth and adult actors who could perform for stage, film and television projects on a national level, Jan and Garth brought their unique brand of casting, coaching and caring to the Valley. They believe creating a local pool of talented actors would attract new cultural and business opportunities to the Phoenix area while developing artists and serving the community. The Williams began by coaching actors to perform in studio showcases and quickly determined that the rigor of theatrical rehearsals and performances was the best training to develop artists and enrich the community. They always dreamed of opening their own theater company where they could share their insights and coach actors to develop their craft. They are certain that one day in the future, you will see these actors on television and in films and say, “I saw them when they were Almost Famous.”
