Abrazo Central Campus celebrates Nurses Week, Hospital Week

National Nurses Week is celebrated annually to coincide with the birthday of Florence Nightingale, considered by many as the founder of modern nursing, on May 12.

Abrazo Central Campus is honoring its nurses and employees in May during National Nurses Week, May 6-12, and National Hospital Week, May 12-18. These annual celebrations recognize the critical role nurses and hospitals perform for the community.

National Nurses Week is celebrated annually to coincide with the birthday of Florence Nightingale, considered by many as the founder of modern nursing, on May 12. Like Florence Nightingale, Abrazo nurses serve with passion and dedication for their patients every day.

“We are thankful to all of our nurses and humbled by the way they care for our patients,” said Abrazo Central Campus Chief Nursing Officer Michelle Henderson, DNP, RN, NEA-BC, CEN, CPHQ, CPXP. “Our nurses are respected for their unwavering devotion to our patients, their families and each other. Their resilience, leadership, support and immense sensitivity are at the heart of our continued focus to deliver compassionate care.”

Abrazo nurses have many roles – staff nurse, nursing leader, educator, infection preventionist, nurse practitioner and more. They serve these roles with a passion for the profession, their patients, team members and a strong commitment to patient safety.

“Nurses Week and National Hospital Week are special time of year to celebrate all of the remarkable nurses, healthcare workers and team members at Abrazo Central Campus,” added hospital Chief Executive Officer Greg Pearson. “We are grateful to all of our teams every day for putting our patients first and for their essential support to ensure every patient in our community receives high-quality care.”

Abrazo Central Campus is celebrating the hospital’s 60th anniversary with an ice cream social for current and former employees on May 15.

“Healthcare workers across the entire hospital, including ancillary departments, technicians, respiratory therapists, nurses, doctors and many others, are all resilient and committed to leading through challenges and victories to improve the lives of others,” said Pearson. “On behalf of all of our patients, we thank you for making our community a better, healthier place to live.”

A hiring event for Abrazo Central Campus will be held Thursday, May 16, from 2 to 4 p.m. in the hospital’s Wellness Room, at 2000 W. Bethany Home Road in Phoenix. Positions are available for nurses, new grad RNs, respiratory and physical therapists, CT, IR, nuclear med and cath lab techs, security, food service and more.
