Protecting our future in QCUSD

The district isn’t alone in providing safety and security for students and staff. We partner with Mesa PD and Queen Creek PD to provide school resource officers at high schools and meet with them monthly to discuss needs, issues and upcoming events. Students and staff also receive ALICE training each year to prepare for emergency lockdown events.

In the Queen Creek Unified School District, providing a safe and healthy environment is one of our top priorities. In fact, it’s a priority outlined in our strategic plan. We know that when you send your child to Queen Creek Schools, you expect them to be safe and protected. We know that when students are in our schools, we are protecting our future.

That’s why each of our district schools is equipped with security and safety features including single-entry access doors with automatic locks for emergencies. School lobbies are protected with bullet-resistant glass. The district is planning to increase security features district-wide when resources become available. We plan to install additional security cameras on all campuses to deter and enforce against criminal activity such as vandalism, as well as update the security badge access systems and upgrade fencing.

Through public safety partnerships, security features and training, we are dedicated to doing all we can to protect students in the event of an emergency, but we know we can always do more.

According to our most recent parent survey, 90 percent of QCUSD parents feel that their child’s school is safe. We plan to keep it that way. With safety as a strategic priority, we are protecting our future.

Dr. Perry Berry has been superintendent of the Queen Creek Unified School District since June 2015.
