Shoppers Supply, a family-owned and operated retailer headquartered in Chandler, is celebrating the opening of its third Valley location this weekend in Gilbert.
The new location is at 8454 S. Power Road and this weekend's festivities will include giveaways, vendors, raffles and entertainment at the new Gilbert location and exclusive in-store sales at all three Valley locations, including Chandler and Apache Junction.
“We are looking forward to celebrating our new Gilbert location,” said Ryan Beenken, vice president of Shoppers Supply. “The community has been so supportive; we are proud to be able to help our Gilbert customers with all their needs, from outdoor equipment and sporting goods to pet supplies, clothing, power tools and more. We hope everyone will come out for a fun afternoon.”
Today, March 4, the celebration is going on until 8 p.m. with various vendors doing giveaways and leashed pets are welcome. They're also offering store discounts all weekend at all three locations.
The fun continues on Sunday, March 5, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. The first 100 families will receive a gift card ranging from $25 to $500 and five raffle tickets at the door for giveaways.
Originally founded in 1966, George Schmidt opened the first Shoppers Supply in the rural town of Spencer, Iowa. Starting as a fleet and farm operation, it is now a successful multi-store retail business. The company closed its Iowa stores in 2011, moving the entire company to Arizona. Shoppers Supply still remains a family business run by three generations. Now headquartered in Chandler, Shoppers Supply operates three stores in Chandler, Gilbert and Apache Junction, selling everything from outdoor equipment and sporting goods to pet supplies, clothing, power tools and more.
