Portillo's now open in Queen Creek

In honor of the opening, Portillo’s celebrated with a ribbon cutting ceremony where Michael Portillo, vice president of restaurant support, presented its charity partners, Queen Creek 4-H and Queen Creek Schools Education Foundation, with checks from funds raised during the restaurant's sneak peek training meals Aug. 21-22.

Portillo’s, known for its Chicago-style hot dogs, Italian beef sandwiches, French fries, chocolate cake and shakes, is now open in Queen Creek.

Before Portillo's opened its seventh Arizona restaurant in Queen Creek on Aug. 29, they celebrated with a ribbon cutting ceremony where Michael Portillo, vice president of restaurant support, presented Portillo’s charity partners, Queen Creek 4-H and Queen Creek Schools Education Foundation, with checks from funds raised during the restaurant's sneak peek training meals Aug. 21-22.

Queen Creek Unified School District and Queen Creek Schools Education Foundation officials thanked Portillo's for the $10,032 check they received by allowing them to be a sneak peek charity partner and said the money will go "toward teacher grants and student scholarships."

The new 7,800-square-foot fast-casual restaurant, known for its menu of Chicago street food, is located in Queen Creek at 20745 E. Walnut Road, at the southeast corner of Ellsworth and Walnut roads.

This location is the first Portillo’s built with the Kitchen 23 format, including a grab-and-go retail area, self-serve soda fountain and other efficiencies in the kitchen. It features indoor seating for more than 180 guests, a seasonal outdoor patio with seating for 50 and double drive-thru lanes. Just as all other traditional Portillo’s, it includes a diner-themed interior, drawing inspiration from the 1950s and 1960s.

Guests are invited to sign up for Portillo’s Birthday Club to receive the most updated restaurant information. Fans who sign up also receive a slice of Portillo’s homemade chocolate cake on their birthday.
