Batch Cookie Shop coming to Queen Creek this summer as Queen Creek Crossing takes shape

This family-owned establishment opened its first location in Gilbert and is expanding to include a second location this summer in front of the new Costco in Queen Creek at the intersection of Ellsworth and Queen Creek roads. Six other businesses will join them in the second phase of Queen Creek Crossing.

It’s going to be a sweet summer in Queen Creek with the arrival of Batch Cookie Shop at the Queen Creek Crossing shopping center, currently under construction in front of the new Costco at the northwest corner of Ellsworth and Queen Creek roads.

Batch Cookie Shop, a family-owned gourmet cookie establishment, opened its first location in Gilbert at 1495 N. Higley Road, Suite 107, and their second location opening this summer in Queen Creek is expected to have the same hours, from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Saturday. Batch's gourmet cookies are available in-store, through local delivery, as well as through nationwide shipping. More information on Batch Cookie Shop can be found at batchcookieshop.com.

This is the second phase of Vestar's 300,000-square-foot Queen Creek Crossing, which will provide 546 parking spaces instead of the normally required 668 spots (not including Costco parking already there). The 138,782 square feet of retail space sits on 2.8 acres just north of the Costco and brings the total area of the shopping center to 1.4 million square feet.

Queen Creek Crossing's second phase of construction includes seven different businesses joining Batch Cookie Shop. The remaining six businesses coming to the development by fall of this year are Hobby Lobby, Ashley Furniture, Desert Financial, Smoothie King, Black Rifle Coffee Company and Sleep Number by Select Comfort.

Additionally, BJ's Brewhouse is currently in the pre-application phase with the Town of Queen Creek to also open a 6,000-square-foot restaurant with a 900-square-foot patio area at Queen Creek Crossing at that northwest corner of Ellsworth and Queen Creek roads.

Earlier this month, Vice Mayor Jeff Brown addressed ongoing resident complaints on social media about only chain restaurants like BJ's Brewhouse coming to town.

"For those who've complained it's a chain, yes, I know it's a chain. I too would love to have more non-chain stuff (in Queen Creek). That said, private property rights being what they are, this entity has the same rights as a non-chain to make application and be considered," Brown wrote on his Facebook page. "A municipality cannot legally reject a restaurant based on whether they're chain vs mom and pop. If the underlying zoning allows for retail and restaurant then the chain vs non-chain cannot be considered."
