Barro's Pizza to donate all Dec. 5 sales proceeds to St. Mary's Food Bank

The Queen Creek Barro's is located in the Queen Creek Marketplace, at 20415 E. Rittenhouse Road.

On Tuesday, Dec. 5, Barro’s Pizza will donate 100% of sales proceeds from dine-in and carry-out orders at all Arizona locations to St. Mary’s Food Bank. Now in its 12th year, the Doran Barro Holiday Hunger Fight Campaign is helping St. Mary’s keep food on Arizonan’s tables during its busiest time of year. In 2022, the day of giving raised $415,000, the initiative’s largest output.

"We are incredibly grateful for the ongoing support from Barro's Pizza," said Lisa Natoro, chief development and communications officer of St. Mary’s Food Bank. "Their dedication to helping those in need is truly inspiring. The funds raised through this campaign will make a significant difference in the lives of countless individuals and families facing food insecurity."

The 2023 Doran Barro Holiday Hunger Fight Campaign will go from open to close at all Barro’s locations on Tuesday, Dec. 5. And every purchase will have a big impact. By ordering one pizza, Barro’s patrons will help St. Mary’s Food Bank provide a whopping 70 meals. Even one fountain drink can provide 13 meals to those experiencing food insecurity.

The proceeds from the day will be used to feed families across Arizona. Since its inception in 2012, the Doran Barro Holiday Hunger Fight Campaign has raised more than $2.5 million, which has enabled St. Mary’s to provide 17,500,000 meals for Arizona’s hungry.

"We are thrilled to continue our partnership with St. Mary’s Food Bank and support their mission of fighting hunger in our community," said Bruce Barro, co-owner of Barro's Pizza. "As a family-owned business, we understand the importance of giving back and taking care of our neighbors. It's an honor to be able to contribute to such a worthy cause."

The Doran Barro Holiday Hunger Fight is named after the matriarch of the Barro family, Doran Barro, who the family lost in 2016. The issue of hunger in Arizona and around the world was very important to Doran so she took on this effort with the support of her family and friends and, most importantly, with the support of Barro’s loyal customers who participate each year. The Barro family chose to continue this fundraiser in her honor. She understood not only the impact of going hungry, but the scope of the problem in Arizona. For more than 2 million people in Arizona – including 1 in 4 Arizona children – food insecurity is an ongoing challenge.
